WSL | Gameweek 4 | Wins for Manchester City and Chelsea | Yeovil lose again

In gameweek four, Manchester City and Chelsea picked up wins against Birmingham City and Brighton & Hove Albion while Yeovil Town suffered yet another defeat. Liverpool fell short at home to Reading and Bristol City’s clash with Everton was postponed.

Man City came from behind to pick up all three points against Birmingham, having gone 2-0 down after an eighth minute own goal from Abbie McManus and an early second-half effort from Meaghan Sargeant.

The Sky Blues pulled a goal back minutes later through Caroline Weir, and after the hour mark Nikita Parris levelled the match. Tessa Wullaert won the game for Man City with a 73rd-minute winner.

Chelsea’s win over Brighton saw them take the lead after half an hour through Fran Kirby and double their advantage minutes later from Erin Cuthbert. It was the Blues’ first win of the WSL season and sees them go fifth in the table.

Liverpool suffered a home defeat to Reading, with Brooke Chaplen’s 36th minute goal being the difference at Prenton Park.

Yeovil Town lost again on the weekend, this time away to West Ham. Leanne Kiernan gave United the lead after the hour mark, but Yeovil equalised through Ellie Mason in the 78th minute.

Town’s resolve didn’t last, however, with West Ham scoring an 80th-minute winner through Rosie Kmita to condemn the visitors to their third defeat of the season.
