On gameweek five of the U23 Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur earned a 2-0 win over Manchester City, while the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal were held to draws against Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
Tottenham’s victory on Friday saw them go 1-0 up in the 21st minute through Shayon Harrison, assisted by Paris Maghoma. On the half hour mark, Maghoma turned goalscorer, settling the contest in the first-half to seal a big win at The Lamex Stadium.
Elsewhere, Brighton beat West Ham 2-1 at the Amex Stadium, Newcastle lost to Southampton, Manchester United were held at Old Trafford by Reading, Fulham narrowly beat Wolves at Motspur Park and Aston Villa suffered a heavy home defeat to Stoke City.
On Saturday, Liverpool made light work of Swansea City with goals from Nathaniel Philipps, Divock Origi and Dominic Solanke sealing a 3-0 win at the Academy Training Ground.
On Sunday, Chelsea took the lead against Leicester through Callum Hudson-Odoi but Shinji Okazaki levelled the match in the 66th minute to ensure City went home with a share of the spoils.
Sunderland and Norwich City also played out a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light.
On Monday, Derby County and Middlesbrough picked up wins against Everton and West Bromwich Albion respectively while Arsenal were held to a draw away to Blackburn.
