Premier League | Gameweek 5 | Liverpool win at Tottenham | Watford’s 100% start is over

In gameweek five, Liverpool and Chelsea maintained their 100% records in the Premier League with wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Cardiff City respectively.

Watford’s perfect start to the season ended, however, with defeat to Manchester United. Romelu Lukaku gave United the lead after half an hour before Chris Smalling doubled the lead minutes later.

Andre Gray halved the deficit, but his goal didn’t lead to a Watford comeback. United ran out 2-1 winners but still only find themselves eighth in the table.

Bournemouth find themselves on the fringes of a Champions League spot after beating Leicester City in a six-goal thriller at Dean Court.

A Ryan Fraser brace, goal from Joshua King and late strike from Adam Smith had the Cherries 4-0 up in the dying minutes of normal time, but Leicester fought back.

James Maddison scored an 88th-minute penalty and Marl Albrighton netted City’s second goal shortly after to take some gloss off Bournemouth’s win.

Burnley have endured a woeful start to the new campaign and suffered their fourth defeat in five, going down 1-0 away to newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers.
