U23 Premier League | Gameweek 4 | Brighton thrash Man City | Arsenal win North London derby

In gameweek four of the U23 Premier League, Brighton earn a shock win over Manchester City and Arsenal beat Tottenham in the North London derby.

Brighton took the lead against City through Viktor Gyökeres in the 27th minute. Hayden Roberts doubled Albion’s advantage before the break and the final quarter of the game led to three more goals coming from the hosts – Aaron Connolly (70’ & 82’) and James Tilley (90’).

Arsenal’s win over Tottenham started with Joe Willock breaking the deadlock inside of three minutes. The hosts took until the hour mark to double their advantage through Tyreece John-Jules. Tottenham pulled a goal back in injury time through Jaden Brown, but it was too little too late from the visitors.

Manchester United narrowly beat Stoke City thanks to a 37th minute Angel Gomes goal, while Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton both cruised to victories that saw them scoring three goals against Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers.

Reading enjoyed a 4-2 win at Newcastle, coming from 2-0 down to pick up all three points. United raced into an early lead through goals from Elias Sörensen but Reading’s response was swift.

The Royals halved the deficit through Gabriel Osho minutes after conceding their second goal and had levelled the game just after half an hour, thanks to Ben House.

Minutes after that, Danny Loader put the visitors ahead, and an injury time effort from Load put the icing on the cake before the restart. Reading held on to win in the second-half.

Elsewhere, Fulham played out a stalemate with Southampton, Liverpool lost at home to West Ham, while Aston Villa and Chelsea enjoyed away wins over Middlesbrough and Swansea City.

Leicester City took home the bragging rights from a Midlands clash with Derby County, running out 2-0 winners on the road thanks to Raul Uche and a Joe Bateman own goal.

Finally, Sunderland beat West Bromwich Albion at home, taking the lead through Luke Molyneux in the 23rd minute before Kyle Edwards equalised after the restart. He scored after the hour mark but Sunderland weren’t to be denied and found a winner minutes later through Jack Diamond to seal all three points.
