Elsewhere, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers enjoyed victories over Fulham and Newcastle United, while Stoke City and Middlesbrough played out a stalemate.

On Friday, United’s trip to Southampton saw them take the lead through DJ Buffonge after the hour mark but it didn’t last. The hosts equalised ten minutes later through Marcus Barnes to earn a share of the spoils at Staplewood.

Reading made light work of Sunderland on Saturday, taking the lead through Josh Barrett minutes into the game. Gabriel Osho then doubled Reading’s advantage midway into the first-half.

After the break, Ben House made it three before Sunderland pulled a goal back through Luke Molyneux. Osho scored his second and Reading’s fourth in injury time.

On Monday, Norwich’s big win over West Brom saw Adam Idah (19’, 30’, 69’) seal a hat-trick. Anthony Spyrou also got himself on the scoresheet. Norwich’s win sees them go third in Division Two.
