Liverpool Ladies confirm Alex Greenwood, Martha Harris and Amy Turner will leave the club at the end of their contracts. The trio departing this summer will take the full total to six, after Kate Longhurst, Caroline Weir and Siobhan Chamberlain left in May.
Greenwood joined Liverpool from Notts County in 2016 and went on to make 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals. Harris joined from Lincoln City in 2013 and made 61 appearances across the board for the Reds. As for Turner, the 26-year-old joined last year from County and made seven appearances.
Liverpool finished sixth in the WSL 1 with 28 points from 18 games last season. They also reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. For a club that won consecutive WSL titles only four years ago, seeing six players and their manager departing is worrying for their long-term future.
Last season, the Merseysiders finished 16 points adrift of champions Chelsea, the team they had pipped the title in 2014. They’ve been confirmed in the WSL 1 for next season but have a big rebuilding task on their hands. Scott Rogers stepped down as manager earlier this month and has been replaced by former Doncaster Rovers Belles head coach Neil Redfearn.
