U23 Premier League | West Ham 1-3 Arsenal | Gunners win the title

Arsenal have won the u23 Premier League Division One title after beating West Ham United 3-1 at the London Stadium, courtesy of goals from Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah.

After Nketiah saw a deflected long-range effort saved and Nelson hit the woodwork with a later chance, the Gunners took the lead midway through the first-half. Nelson picked up the ball outside the area, worked an opening and fired his shot past Nathan Trott in the United goal.

Minutes late, Nketiah doubled Arsenal’s lead. The teenage striker scored a close range effort at the near post after fantastic work out wide from Tolaji Bola. Arsenal went into the break with a two-goal advantage that become three midway through the second-half.

The visitors scored their third goal in the 70th minute through Nketiah. After Nelson made a beeline into the penalty area, he squared the ball to the 18-year-old who made no mistake with his finish, putting United beyond doubt.

West Ham pulled a goal back through Domingos Quina, but it was little more than scant consolation. Arsenal ran out worthy winners and have sealed the Division One title. The Gunners finished three points clear of Leicester City after 22 games. No side won more (13) and scored more (48) this season.
