Women’s FA Cup | Semi-final draw | Chelsea to face Sunderland or Manchester City

WSL 1 leaders Chelsea will face either Sunderland or Manchester City in the semi-finals of the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday, April 15, reports the English Football Association.

The draw was conducted on BBC Radio 5Live by presenter Rachel Burden and former England international Sue Smith.

Chelsea booked their place in the final four of the competition after dispatching of Liverpool 3-0, courtesy of goals from Jonna Andersson, Katie Chapman and Maren Mjelde.

The remaining three quarter-final games have been rescheduled for Sunday, March 25, after adverse weather conditions forced the postponement of other fixtures. Sides that reach the last four will earn £5,000 in prize money.

As for deciding Chelsea’s opponent; Sunderland and Manchester City will lock horns at the Mariners’ Park next month, with Continental Cup runners-up City the resounding favourites to progress.

Durham welcome Everton to New Ferens Park, with the visitors expected to make light work of the lowest-ranked side left in the competition.

The winner of that game will face the winner of Arsenal v Charlton, to be played at Meadow Park.

Unsurprisingly, the Gunners are big favourites to progress to the semi-finals, having recently dispatched of Manchester City to win the Conti Cup.
