‘Happy to announce…’ – Arsenal and England pioneer takes on ‘exceptional’ new role

Former Arsenal and England winger Rachel Yankey revealed her partnership with Elite Football, a sports training group who provide ‘exceptional’ experiences for youth players.

The 38-year-old will take on an ambassadorial role with Elite Football, who paid tribute to Yankey for signing on and are excited to be working with such a stellar name in Women’s football.

Yankey said on Twitter: “Happy to announce my partnership with @EliteFootballDC and release information on our inaugural ‘GIRLS ONLY’ Masterclass Clinics which will be held at @SchoolWeydon on 3-5th April & 10-12th April.”

It’s not the first time the ex-winger has used her platform to give something back to the next generation of footballers, having launched the Betfair ‘Fairer Game’ initiative last year, and the girls who go to her masterclass clinic will be treated to an experience like none other.

Yankey played for the likes of Arsenal, Fulham, Birmingham and Notts County, made 129 caps for the England national team and won nearly every trophy at club level.

At Arsenal alone, she won eight league titles and 13 domestic cups. At Fulham, the veteran won a league title and five domestic cups. Yankey also won a league crown with the New Jersey Wildcats.

There are few footballers as decorated in the game as Yankey, so her experience and advice are invaluable for those going to the classes. She’s a pioneer, earning an MBE in 2005 and OBE in 2013 for her services to Women’s football.
