Crystal Palace ended the weekend rooted to the foot of the Premier League table without a point after losing heavily to Manchester City.
The Eagles lost 5-0 to Pep Guardiola’s league leaders at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Leroy Sane put the hosts ahead before half-time to give City a narrow lead at the restart, before four goals came in the second-half.
Raheem Sterling scored the first of his two goals minutes after the break, sealing his brace before the hour mark. Sergio Aguero then scored his first and City’s fourth goal of the game with just over 10 minutes remaining. Fabian Delph wrapped up the scoring in the closing stages of the game.
Manchester United are matching their fierce rivals stride for stride this season, with Jose Mourinho’s men level on points and only behind on goal difference. The Red Devils had new-boy Romelu Lukaku to thank after his first-half goal was enough to earn United all three points at St Mary’s.
Elsewhere, there were wins for Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.
