West Ham United finished the weekend rock bottom of the Premier League table after another heavy defeat, while Arsenal lost their second game in eight days.
The Hammers lost 3-0 away to newly-promoted Newcastle United on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Joselu, Ciaran Clark and Aleksandar Mitrovic, and are now one of three top flight sides without a single point after three games.
Arsenal suffered back-to-back defeats after being well-beaten away to Liverpool on Sunday. Goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge put the Gunners to the sword, leaving them 16th in the table with just three points.
The win sees Liverpool shoot up into second, two points behind leaders Manchester United, who beat Leicester City 2-0 at home on Saturday evening with goals from Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini.
New-boys Huddersfield Town continued their bright start with a goalless draw against Southampton. West Bromwich Albion drew 1-1 at home to Stoke City a day later. Jay Rodriguez gave Albion a second-half lead before Peter Crouch levelled Sunday’s game with 15 minutes left.
