Premier League | West Bromwich Albion 0-1 Chelsea | Batshuayi winner seals Chelsea the title

Michy Batshuayi scored a late winner against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns to win Chelsea the Premier League title.

The Belgian international had endured a difficult debut season since his move from Olympique Marseille, but he delivered from the bench to put the Baggies to the sword.

Current Premier League table (2016/17)

Team P W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Chelsea 36 28 3 5 76 29 +47 87
2 Tottenham 35 23 8 4 71 23 +48 77
3 Liverpool 36 20 10 6 71 42 +29 70
4 Manchester City 35 20 9 6 70 37 +33 69
5 Arsenal 35 20 6 9 68 42 +26 66
6 Manchester United 35 17 14 4 51 27 +24 65

With Tottenham 10 points behind with only nine points available, Chelsea have sealed the title with games to spare. The win against Albion was their fourth on the bounce in the Premier League and their 13th victory on the road this season.

Manager Antonio Conte was tossed into the air by his players, having won the league crown in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, and can be deservedly proud of his achievement.

Chelsea could finish on 93 points for the season, just two shy of their record set under Jose Mourinho in 2004/05. The Blues also have an FA Cup final against Arsenal to come at Wembley.

After falling to 8th in the table following a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in late-September, few could have foreseen Chelsea would win 13 consecutive games with a new formation to go top of the table and stay there.

A 2-1 win over Tottenham on November 26 saw Chelsea reach the summit for the first time since the opening day and no other club managed to catch them.
